Glacier

Top Ten Reasons Why Glacier is Better

  1. Glacier is celebrating its 100th anniversary as a national park in 2010.
  2.
  3. The Flathead River is so spectacular that the big guy upstairs made it sparkling teal instead of blue.
  4.
  5. We have glaciers. Those alone make us awesome. And better.
  6. In winter, we have the best ice climbing in Montana.
  7. Two towns are named after us: East Glacier and West Glacier.
  8.
  9. Amtrak loves us. So much that they bring visitors to entrances at either side of the park. That’s dedication.
  10.
  11. We’re part of the world’s first international peace park, the Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park.
  12.
  13. Our landscape is called the “Backbone of the World.” That’s how strong we are.
  14.
  15. We have over 300 species of animals — including wolverines, grizzly bears, mountain goats, bighorn sheep and golden eagles.
  16. Maybe you’ve heard of our little friend—the Going-to-the-Sun Road. So spectacular that it’s a National Historic Landmark and Historic Civic Engineering Landmark.

Glacier Park is my favorite because it is a great day trip from the Double Arrow Lodge in Seeley Lake.
14 March 2010 || 1:54:05 pm

It's remote, big, cold, vast, wild, and does not allow motors in the winter and there's no smell of exhaust when you're skiing!
12 March 2010 || 2:52:47 pm

Both are beautiful but Glacier has my vote.
11 March 2010 || 12:04:15 pm

Both parks are great but Glacier is David to Yellowstone's Goliath (which is mostly in WY). America's little slice of the Canadian Rockies.

Glacier Park Visit Glacier National Park

Yellowstone

Top Ten Reasons Why Yellowstone is Better

  1. Yellowstone is the 1st national park, that alone makes us better.
  2.
  3. Yellowstone is home to more thermal features than the entire rest of the earth combined!
  4.
  5. Yellowstone has over 300 miles of roads to experience our beauty.
  6. Over-the-snow access through 200 miles of groomed trails into the heart of Yellowstone's wintry wonderland full of steaming thermals, frosty bison, and frozen "snow ghost" pines.
  7. Back country hikes to hidden hot pools and geysers.
  8.
  9. Fly fishing for big brown trout on the Firehole River during their fall spawning migration surrounded by grazing elk on the river's edge.
  10.
  11. Yellowstone is more points in Scrabble.
  12.
  13. Watching battling bison by the thousands fight it out in Hayden Valley during the annual August rut.
  14.
  15. Exploring the archaeological remainders from the earliest Yellowstone Sheepeater tribes to the foundations and china remnants of the early Yellowstone hotels.
  16.
  17. Because the Yellowstone caldera has the potential to obliterate the rest of the planet (now that's POWER!).
